THE DREADED BLACK FRIDAY!!!

With little Olivia on the way, we decided to brave the crowds and suffer sleep deprivation and wake up at 4:30 in the morning to try our luck at some good deals. We started out at Baby's-R-Us for a mothers chair. We got there at 5:02AM and they had already sold all of them. Kari had a friend from work there that was a bit farther along than us and the last lady they were selling the last mothers chair to decided not to get hers. So Kari's friend ended up getting one. We were a bit annoyed cause they had this big ad in the paper and they only had 6 to sell. Anyways, the guy talked to someone and we ended up buying the floor model. So we went on a bit down the road to JoAnn Fabric. Kari saw that they were having a sale on their "snuggle flannel" material? I don't know what the stuff is called, but it was really very cute stuff. We ended up saving about $85 when it was said and done! I don't think I'm used to the whole fabric store/women relationship, cause there were some crazy bats in there! This one girl had a material that I thought would make a cute receiving blanket and asked if we could get a yard of it from her. She seriously looked me dead in the face and told me she needed the whole thing! I asked myself "holy crap, there's gotta be like 10 yards on there, how many blankets do you need!" But whatever, I think I started something, cause after that, I saw lots of people going around while they were waiting for their number to be called, trying to get some material that other people had already snagged. I gained a little more respect for that one girl, cause when we were getting our cuts done, she came up and said she had found some more and she would let us have a couple yards if we wanted. It was definitely an experience. On our way out I remembered the block letters I am going to make for Olivia's room and headed to the scrapbook section to see if they had any neat paper to cover them with. They were having a 5 for $1.00 sale so I was grabbing some when Kari found me and started at it too. We ended up with a lot more paper than we needed but it all only cost us like $5 so I wasn't too worried about it.
. This is the material and paper we found. The coveted material from the other girl let us have is the second from the left on the bottom. Kari is super talented with the sewing machine so I'm really excited to see what she ends up doing with these. After the fabric store, we head off to get some breakfast and head to Target. It started raining at that point, so there were luckily less people out than there normally would have been. We scored the first 3 seasons of "The Office" and some other movies for Christmas. Of course a couple more outfits for the baby and some other stuff I can't remember. All in all, it was a really fun experience. One of many I'm sure we will endure in the future.

My new obsession

(Shaun speaking) So apparently I surprised a few people that I was able to put up some crown molding in Olivias room. I was ambitious and just went at it. I've never thought of myself as a "handyman" but like to think I catch on pretty well. But seems some other folks thought less of my skill possibilities. ; ) I'm not offended, but do have to say I enjoyed being able to do that. I'm currently trying to finish a shelf in the same room above the window so little Olivia has a place for her stuffed animals until shes old enough to actually play with them. We'll see how that goes. Here are a few pictures before my final touchup.

The Baby Bump!!

We're about 6 and a half months along here!!!! Olivia's sitting at a nice 13 inches long and a bit over a pound. I must say it's been mighty nice being able feel her kickin around in there.
