Branching Out!!!

So I've had some people ask me about some of my portrait work and up until a few months ago, I didn't have anything to show them. So the link to the right that says "pictures" has some recent stuff I've done for my niece Melissa, Nephew Matthew, and our good friends Karen and Cameron Baughmans son Dylan. If your bored take a look and tell me what you think.

THE DREADED BLACK FRIDAY!!!

With little Olivia on the way, we decided to brave the crowds and suffer sleep deprivation and wake up at 4:30 in the morning to try our luck at some good deals. We started out at Baby's-R-Us for a mothers chair. We got there at 5:02AM and they had already sold all of them. Kari had a friend from work there that was a bit farther along than us and the last lady they were selling the last mothers chair to decided not to get hers. So Kari's friend ended up getting one. We were a bit annoyed cause they had this big ad in the paper and they only had 6 to sell. Anyways, the guy talked to someone and we ended up buying the floor model. So we went on a bit down the road to JoAnn Fabric. Kari saw that they were having a sale on their "snuggle flannel" material? I don't know what the stuff is called, but it was really very cute stuff. We ended up saving about $85 when it was said and done! I don't think I'm used to the whole fabric store/women relationship, cause there were some crazy bats in there! This one girl had a material that I thought would make a cute receiving blanket and asked if we could get a yard of it from her. She seriously looked me dead in the face and told me she needed the whole thing! I asked myself "holy crap, there's gotta be like 10 yards on there, how many blankets do you need!" But whatever, I think I started something, cause after that, I saw lots of people going around while they were waiting for their number to be called, trying to get some material that other people had already snagged. I gained a little more respect for that one girl, cause when we were getting our cuts done, she came up and said she had found some more and she would let us have a couple yards if we wanted. It was definitely an experience. On our way out I remembered the block letters I am going to make for Olivia's room and headed to the scrapbook section to see if they had any neat paper to cover them with. They were having a 5 for $1.00 sale so I was grabbing some when Kari found me and started at it too. We ended up with a lot more paper than we needed but it all only cost us like $5 so I wasn't too worried about it.
. This is the material and paper we found. The coveted material from the other girl let us have is the second from the left on the bottom. Kari is super talented with the sewing machine so I'm really excited to see what she ends up doing with these. After the fabric store, we head off to get some breakfast and head to Target. It started raining at that point, so there were luckily less people out than there normally would have been. We scored the first 3 seasons of "The Office" and some other movies for Christmas. Of course a couple more outfits for the baby and some other stuff I can't remember. All in all, it was a really fun experience. One of many I'm sure we will endure in the future.

My new obsession

(Shaun speaking) So apparently I surprised a few people that I was able to put up some crown molding in Olivias room. I was ambitious and just went at it. I've never thought of myself as a "handyman" but like to think I catch on pretty well. But seems some other folks thought less of my skill possibilities. ; ) I'm not offended, but do have to say I enjoyed being able to do that. I'm currently trying to finish a shelf in the same room above the window so little Olivia has a place for her stuffed animals until shes old enough to actually play with them. We'll see how that goes. Here are a few pictures before my final touchup.

AAAHHHH!!!!!!

After the priesthood session I went down to Cooks to bring Kari some dinner. The girl she was working with has a macbook with a camera on it and a program that distorts pictures, so Kari and I went a little crazy!!!

NEW PICTURES

I just put over a TON of pictures from our trip to Europe, so take a look at them and tell me what you think! http://www.shaunandkarispictures.blogspot.com/

A girls gotta sparkle!

While out on a Saturday morning taking some senior pictures for our niece Melissa, Kari thought she'd take a break and finish up painting her nails. I think this picture is just adorable! So girly!

Dang Texas!

This was a few months ago when the big storms were coming through. There was a really big storm that was on its way to Ft Worth and everyone was freaking out. I just wanted to get my car out of the air for fear of hail!

So we were at home and Kari wanted us to go to the bathroom because it was most central in the house and eat our dinner. (mmm indian soup!!!)

Come to find out, the storm was enough north of us that we just heard some thunder and lightning. We felt a little silly when it was all done and nothing had happened, but what else is new, we're silly people. And whatever, we had fun takin pictures!

I set up another blog so I could just put lots of pictures on there, so if you wanna see those, there's a link to the right!

Eatin some snails!! Part Two

Don't watch part two until you've seen part one! it will ruin it!

Eatin some snails! Part One

While in our first area in Sevilla Spain, we stopped in to one of the tapas bars to have some snails. I had had plenty while on my mission, but wanted to have some for old times sake. Kari, on the other hand wasn't too sure about it, and I absolutely love this video cause it shows kari sqirm a bit.

What the heck?!? This is some crazy tomfoolery!!

So, I figured Kari and I would jump on the bandwagon and start "blogging." It is still yet to be seen who will begin to obsess about this and take over, but I figured i'd get us started.
Just to give a little update about the past few months.....(are you ready?)
Kari and I took a trip to France and Spain back in May and had an absolute blast. You fools better be glad we came back! Cause we were really close to just staying.
Just look at that view, we don't exactly get that in good old Saginaw, TX. And that's fo sho! This picture was from Le Mont St. Michel in Normandy. I took this outside of the bed and breakfast we were staying at.
Anyways, we backpacked through Spain and France to get home with an even bigger surprise!
WERE PREGNANT!!!! Yup, were gonna have kid comin out speaking french! Kari is about 13 weeks along as of a few days ago, so our little peanut is a little bigger than the size of those big cinnamon gummy bear right now....(nice relation ehh?)
We're really excited to be starting our family and welcome our new addition around Feb. 16 or so. And that's all you get for now cause I'm tired and need to go to bed.
